Light eDition

I’m not sure where the week has gone, but it’s flying by…

What better way than to stay focused on one day at a time and start each day with a new long list of gratitude’s and bucket list of wishes…

This macro shot is one I see everyday (screensaver), it helps me to remember my theme word for twentytwelve of FOCUS…and its beautiful sunlit petals expresses my take on this weeks photo challenge theme of light with Kim Klassen, with only a subtle texture enhancement with kkplastersquared.

There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.  ~Edith Wharton

Have a wonderful day, my friends

Sweet Blessings

A beautiful  Sunday, and Happy Mothers Day.

I made a special cake for my sister today to celebrate Mother’s Day with the family. A Vanilla Strawberry Buttercake.

Its the first time I’ve used this giant cupcake tin, so a little trial and error, but some great results. And some wonderful ideas for future baking were discussed by us girls….may2 063 images12

A Mothers Blessing

Thank you, Holy Father,

for Your special gift of mothers;

for the example of Your unconditional love they share with their children.

Thank You for the mother who lets her child know without doubt he or she is loved,

and for the child who returns that love.

Lord, today we pray You will protect and guide mothers everywhere;

that You will grant them Your wisdom in loving and teaching their children.

Today, may children everywhere remember the warm caresses and whispers in the night;

the tears dried and Band-Aids, the peach cobbler, the laughter;

and the blood curdling scream, ‘No!’ at the brink of danger.

Thank You for the mothers who played with us, taught us, nurtured us,

fed us, listened to us and tried to understand us.

Today, may we remember Mum’s beauty when we were young;

and her loveliness discovered as we aged.

Lord, today draw especially close the mothers who are alone,

for whatever reason;

and grant them Your comfort, Your pleasure, Your peace,

And, Lord, for children who are alone, because of distance, death, or indifference,

may good memories flood their minds.

And if there is not a good memory,

may forgiveness burst forth from their hearts

and revive in them long lost joy.

Thank you particularly for phone calls today,

and for a shared ‘I Love You’.

Today as we honour, celebrate, or simply reflect on the woman who gave us birth,

or who adopted us into her heart.

We thank You, Lord, for life,

and for Mum!

I thought I’d share this beautiful Mothers Blessing poem that we gave to our Mum’s today from our children in our Liturgy class.

The Year that was, what it was….

Here I am at the end of another year…a year that was, what it was….I’m not sure about how lucky it was, you know all that eleven lucky stuff, but it certainly proved to be an experience of highs and lows. I found pleasure behind the lens of my camera and developing those skills. I continued baking and discovering more and more my passion for the kitchen and food styling, renewed my artistic hand in design again. A talent that truly has been hidden deep within me for so long and only learning again to soar, create and fly on those wings of artistic freedom.

I’ve laughed and cried, lost and gained, fought and struggled, but I’m still standing. I’ve made some really hard choices this year and I’ve counted all my blessings. Found gratitude for the little things and Give Gratitude for your support throughout twentyeleven. I’ve found some wonderfully talented people from all over the world around the blogging world, made new friends and travelled the world to catch up with long lost ones

I wish everyone a safe and happy New Year everyone.

TT – The Gratitude eDition

lillies

I’m enjoying every minute of my new adventures, and today I give gratitude to those wonderful creative women I have met on this journey. Kim Klassen is one of these ladies, she’s always willing to give you an extra helping hand, with her wonderful textures and artistic skills. Catch Kim over at the Cafe here..with her captured photo today I could only wish that I could be closer to have that coffee with her.

The enchanting moments of my new course The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design…has opened my eye’s to the wonderful world of patterns and colour. Rachael Taylor and Beth Nichols are extraordinary women, who for the past three weeks have had me on a new cloud and following a rainbow. Seeking new designs with nature and making me think outside the box of pattern and colour. It hasn’t been a smooth rainbow ride, but some magical carpet is taking me on a new adventure. These talented twosome are overflowing with information and the wonderful group of energized participants are all live wires. The cyber classroom is full of shining stars.

Today’s photo, well what can I say with a new attempt at texture layering, I can’t tell you how I achieved it…I got lost in the middle somewhere…but it’s a photo of one of my favourite flowers I took this morning, and Kim Klassens texture: – ‘phoebe’…the rest, the magic fairy has strutted her stuff!

With gratitude I thank everyone who visits and leaves me comments and have a great week everyone.

TT – Gratitude eDition

grateful heart

Well, I’m here again at the beginning of the week entering into the world of textures and photography. This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen is to use two of her textures and capture ‘Gratitude’ in your photo.

How do we start each day with a grateful heart?

We give thanks that our heart is beating, we give thanks for the start of a new day…we smile and carry on!

I’ve used the same original photo, (hard to believe) and have been experimenting. Non conclusive recipes this week, I just kept working on them until the image appealed to me.

I give thanks for the little things today, that may well be the bigger and brighter things tomorrow.

The rose bud today, that tomorrow is beaming in full bloom.

The rainbow today, that brings tomorrows falling raindrops.

The smile today, that may bring tomorrows friendship.

Join in the fun at the cafe…have a coffee and meet the other players in the party of Texture Tuesday.

Principles of Motherhood

If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called ‘labor’

The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere – and to let the air out of the tires.

The joy of motherhood: What a woman experiences when all the children are finally in bed.

Life’s golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car.

Any child can tell that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble.

Grandparents are similar to a piece of string – handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of grandchildren.

There are three ways to get something done:Do it yourself,hire someone to do it, or forbid your children to do it.

Adolescence is the age when children try to bring up their parents.

Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as stupid as my teenager now thinks I am.

Money isn’t everything, but it sure keeps the kids in touch.

Adolescence is the age at which children stop asking questions because they know all the answers.

The persons hardest to convince they’re at the retirement age are children at bedtime.

Kids really brighten a household; they never turn off any lights.

Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer the car, and you get about the same results.

Mother

My day started with a little rattle at the door,I had heard footsteps, tippy toes, and whispers lingering from the hallway as soon as the morning light had slipped through my window, and the morning crows and kookaburra’s sang their morning tune.

A Special day. An acknowledgement in gratitude for our mother. Is there really a simple way to say thank you for all that she’s done for us? All the love and care that she’s given to us as a child, adolescent and even now as an adult.

Helping out at a Mother’s day stall this week. I had a glimpse from a child’s point of view, what does your mother like? The question was easy for only a few, what does your mum like doing?  The many chores were talked about, she cooks,cleans,bakes,loves the garden, helps me pick up my toys. Does she paint her nails, does she have time to exercise, does she have time for a bath?…no..how about some chocolate…she’s always on a diet! Ok..so what do you think your mother would like, as a little token to say I love you …each child bought in a present in exchange of buying another from the table. Obviously some mothers thought about sharing their illusion  presents with others…bath crystals, hand lotion, body creams,shower glamour, chocolate cook books, coffee mugs, fridge notepads…does a mother ever have enough time?

With the encouragement to make Mum happy by choosing a gift as a token that you love her..give her a kiss and a hug, say thank you Mum, and it will put a smile on her face, she’ll be happy. Every child had a smile on their face that they had a loving gift in their hands and a present from the heart for their  mum on Mother’s Day.

To my surprise I too received gifts from my niece and nephew this morning. A loving gesture as part of the family, and it too put a smile on my face.

I hope all the mothers have a lovely day today, even if it’s just a little time out from the every day routine and chores of being a mum. And every mum started with a smile on their face today from the large gesture of their child and family, saying I love you, Mum.

In Gratitude

As the hands of the clock tick over twelve the start of the new year adorns. Thinking over the past year, of the passing moments and memories, the transparent memories of last year had all it’s usual challenges and more. A reflective year, a breaking year…a year full of love, happiness, sadness, and loss. A rollercoaster of emotions, of growing up even in my forty something year. Taking the challenge of expressing my creativity of photography,food and life.

The past year I’ve grown with love in strength to take the little challenges in life of expressing gratitude in my little world for the “little” things that can make a world of difference.

Looking back through my blog, I have had many highlights and expressions of the seasonal changes through the lens of the camera and the creative visual displays I’ve done, I so much enjoyed creating a visual magazine and sharing it all with you.

A little stepping stone.I’ve reached one hundred post’s and I’ve enjoyed every minute of the time I’ve spent sharing my travels, my home , garden and recipes.

Who would have thought only a few month’s ago starting this blog would have meant so much to me,today. I’ve entered into a whole new world, meeting on line,new friends from all over the world. Those who inspire me with their photo’s,recipes,creative hands and poetry. Sharing their little piece of their world and entering into mine.

New Years resolutions are often hard to complete, but I’m on my way aspiring to achieve new things in my life. Achieving those ultimate goals…

I found a quote at the beginning of the year:

When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete,everybody will respect you.” Lao Tzu

I wrote this quote on a piece of paper and have been looking and reading it every day since then…there are many obstacles that bump into our lifetime and to be simply true to yourself isn’t always easy.

Through this blog,I can be myself and strive through my photo images of work on the land,creations with my hands and cooking with passion… this is me and I love sharing it with you.

I thank all of you who visit, the new friends whom I’ve met on line and who leave me those encouraging comments, and those of you who visit but haven’t yet met I thank you also…

So as I move on through this little adventure, creating and sharing this little blog I start each day with a smile and look forward to reading your adventures…

Thank you
