A Touch of Spook

A corner, an entrance, a table setting, what ever it may be just a hint of inspiration, changes the look of our homes interior, and with the changing mood we move on through the year (and isn’t it passing quickly).

Autumn is a spectacular season, with it’s changing colours of reds, yellows and oranges,I’ve only put a hint of it in my home. With this hallway display of coloured berries from the garden and a  pumpkin sitting in a birds nest garland.

However as it’s nearly Halloween, and the end of another month, I wanted to add a little spook to the display. Halloween isn’t really celebrated here in Italy, although we have been invited to a Halloween dinner with my American girlfriend this year.

If you’re looking for a little spook why not grab this idea, Happy Haunting Bunting by Moselle.

I printed out the motifs free, printed them on to Ivory parchment paper, drew a black pen border around each letter them glued them to kitchen twine, and as you can see a real treat to the eye. A touch of vintage don’t you think, and very cost efficient and we all like that!

I like the more soft effect of a wave more than a rigid straight banner, but of course it’s up to your creativity and design. Just have fun!

Sgroppino

Two lemons, one whole and one sliced in half

Image via Wikipedia

So what’s Sgroppino? Is it ice-cream or sorbet?

Sgroppino is served between courses or at the end, even as dessert. It’s original to the Veneto region of Italy. An alternative to lemon sorbet, and it’s delicious! An Italian milkshake with a little kick!

At special occasions, a family dinner or with friends, a glass of Sgroppino is a smooth, creamy drink, icy cold and a sharp lemon taste, that I know will send everyones taste buds tingling. There are a few variations on the flavour, liquorices, coffee but my preference is stick to the original lemon flavour.  Easy to make, try this one at your next gathering of friends.

Tea for me and Tea for you….Tea for Two

tea 004Make a cup of tea and stay with me for a few minutes, relax and enjoy.

Sometimes a cup of tea, just does the trick. A soothing cup of tea relaxing with a book, or these days in front of the computer, with fellow blogging friends.Or finishing off an evening combined with five minutes of solitude. A winter warmer, a summer iced treat.tea 012

A fragrant favorite of mine is “Tisana Meditazione” – Meditation Tea. It’s a combination of mint, cinnamon, sunflower petals, rose petals, chamomile and lavender.

tea 011

The fragrance of lavender is known to relax and soothe the mind and body. Lavender  tea is known to ease insomnia, help calm nervousness and anxiety. Alleviate colds ,coughs, bronchitis and similar respiratory problems. Fatigue and headaches. Funny enough two of my favourite teas both have lavender in them.

Meditation Tea is very fragrant, sweet and soothing if you can find this combination I recommend trying it. Another favourite is “Tisana Dolce Sonno” meaning Sweet Dreams or Sleep, so I guess the title says it all. It’s ingredients are passionfruit leaves, melissa ,star anise, mint, peppermint and lavender.tea 019

From a friend who lives miles away:

“I would like to visit you and have a cup of tea, however as I am unable to,

please have one on me”, a teapot message and a teabag included.
